Dairy Milk Mint – Just the Right Amount of Minty Flavour

Do you like Dairy Milk?  Do you like minty chocolate?  If your answer to both of those questions is “yes,” you will enjoy Dairy Milk Mint.  It’s exactly what you want it to be.

(And if your answer to the first question is “no,” then get out of here, you monster.)

Dairy Milk Mint

Some minty chocolates are more about the mint than the chocolate, but this one strikes a really satisfying balance; the refreshing minty flavour is there, but the creamy, tasty Cadbury milk chocolate is clearly the star of the show.

That’s about it.  It’s got everything you love about plain Dairy Milk, but with a nice dose of mint.

Jelly Belly Mint Filled Chocolate Bar – Shockingly Good

I’ll admit that I had extremely low expectations for this one.  I mean, it’s Jelly Belly.  They’re legendary for their jelly beans, but what do they know about chocolate?

Quite a bit, apparently!

Jelly Belly Mint Filled Chocolate Bar

Yes, this is a Jelly Belly product, but it has absolutely nothing to do with jelly beans — it’s just milk chocolate with a minty filling.  It’s so much better than I thought it was going to be.

It’s basically like something that Andes would make, but better.  Unlike an Andes product, it’s real chocolate, which helps.  And it’s good quality chocolate, too — it’s nice and snappy, it’s rich and creamy, and it has a satisfying flavour that isn’t too sweet.

Jelly Belly Mint Filled Chocolate Bar

In a lot of bars like this, the chocolate itself is infused with a minty flavour, which makes the whole thing taste a bit toothpastey.  But the mintiness here only comes from the filling, which gives the bar a great balance of minty and chocolatey flavour.  I feel like this might have been slightly more satisfying if the mint were a bit softer (it’s basically the exact same texture as the chocolate), but that’s a minor complaint.

I started out assuming that this would be more of a novelty than anything else, but now I feel like I need to seek out other Jelly Belly chocolates.  It’s weird how good it is.

Aero Peppermint – It’s Aero, but Minty

Sometimes these candy reviews basically write themselves, and sometimes… they do not.  This one definitely falls into the latter category.

I mean, it’s right there in the name.  It’s minty Aero.  It tastes exactly how you think it’s going to taste.  It’s Aero that’s minty.  The end.

Aero Peppermint

Oh, that’s not enough?  Fine, a bit more.  Here’s the thing: it’s Aero… that’s minty.  What?  Did I say that already?  Fine.

Aero Peppermint

The chocolate is nice and creamy, the bubbles give it that interesting texture that Aero fans know and love, and the whole thing is very, very sweet.  But the strong minty flavour (this is absolutely not a subtle bar) makes the sweetness feel right.  It’s tasty stuff.

Andes Crème de Menthe Snap Bar – Minty and Refreshing

Mint and chocolate is one of those combos that seems like it shouldn’t work, but absolutely does; it’s sweet, refreshing, and delicious.

Andes Snap Bar

But the odd thing about Andes Snap bar is that despite ostensibly being a mint/chocolate bar, the packaging doesn’t once use the word “chocolate,” and cocoa butter is nowhere to be found in the ingredients — only palm oil.

The even odder thing?  It doesn’t really matter.  You definitely get a nice chocolatey flavour that compliments the strong mint quite well, and though the texture is softer and less creamy than actual chocolate, it works.  It’s satisfying.

Andes Snap Bar

I will say that eating it in bar form is probably unnecessary.  Andes mints are typically sold as individually wrapped, bite-sized pieces, which is really all you need.  The chocolate flavour mellows out the mint a bit, but the mint is clearly the star of the show.  It’s tasty and refreshing, but eating a whole bar’s worth of it is overkill.  It’s a bit much.

Kit Kat Duos: Mint + Dark Chocolate – Minty and Tasty

The wrapper of this American import puzzled me; it says Hershey, but isn’t Kit Kat a Nestle product?  Well here’s something I just learned: due to a decades-old agreement between the two companies, Kit Kat is made by Hershey in the States, and by Nestle in the rest of the world.

I guess I’m going to have to buy a plain American Kit Kat and see how it stacks up with the Nestle version, but for now, there’s this.

Kit Kat Duos: Mint + Dark Chocolate

There definitely seems to be a dip in quality compared to the recent Nestle Kit Kats I’ve been trying, but that might be more down to the flavour than anything else.

And it’s definitely not bad — it’s actually pretty good.  But the mint flavour is intense.  I like the mint/chocolate combo, so I enjoyed it, but if you don’t you might find it a bit toothpasty.

Kit Kat Duos: Mint + Dark Chocolate

Other than that, the chocolate is slightly grainy, and the wafer seems to be a bit bland compared to the Nestle version (though that could be my imagination), but it’s generally tasty enough.
